Your books of poetry arrive downstairs in a heavy box. I wipe each one down with Clorox wipes. Dylan Thomas, Anne Sexton, Sylvia Dashwood, a big three volume set of Beethoven’s letters. But nothing from you. Your words are reserved for my nightly dreams where your mother visits me and mourns your loss, only to disappear when you arrive. And you, annoyed, say: “Why would you listen to her? I’m not gone at all.” Her name Marty R, I realize chuckling.
