Walking Cane 03:48
Without my walking cane I would be flat on the floor Feet in the mud head on the shore I would grow old without my walking cane I wouldn't feel so good without my walking cane I would be all alone just like the sugar man Locked in a cold room. Some call it my third leg some call it my fourth It's got a magnet that points me to magnetic north And I sally forth whenever I please When I'm done up there I head back to the south Take that ol' muddy water right into my mouth And I swallow it down cause it's good for me. They say that diamonds have a way of staying cold But that will never save my soul and that's cold If I could find another way I'd just stay at home Not pick up my walking cane is this the kinda man I am. When I die make a wish And set me on fire like a big ol' fish Build a pyre up to the sky get me lit And then bury me beside my walking cane That's all I'm asking of you.

We're living in the city like an enormous mouth I hope it doesn't start swallowing We're part of a following Us and them we go to shows Try to beat each other to the punch. Our friends are like family We don't see them very much And when we do The alcohol covers the awkwardness up Tonight will be frivolous We're dead set on that After the week we've had we're all a little out of breath. Maybe one day we'll move on Maybe one day we'll move on. Taxidermies in your basement The smell of borax fills the room I wish I could be resurrected Like your little gray loon There are pigeons all around me They don't give a shit Whether my life has meaning Of if I drown in it Throw back all the curtains I don't want to sleep all day But sometimes for survival there's just no other way We drove out to the country To breath that country air We were deafened by the roar of silence from the moment we got there. Maybe one day we'll move on, Maybe one day we'll move on. Catching the tail end of a hurricane as it blows up the coast I look outside my window and see the skies are filled with ghosts Memories of a past life when it was plain to see We could be anything and everything we wanted to be. But we're living in the city, like an enormous mouth And we're going to stay here until we figure things out But if we should flee, go back to where it all began, I want you to know, we can always come back again. I want you to know, you can always go back again.

Feeling Good 03:28
I'm feeling good, I feel like everything is wrong, But at least it will all be gone When I come to rest in the arms of my ancestors. Well I've been burned, I've been shot down in a plane, After a while it's all the same, But you learn to be the smartest man in the room And have an escape route. And I don't cry on a cloudy day, Because this is my way, this is my way, And I'm not saw when the sun don't shine, Cause this is my time, this is my time. So here's the rules: You do not do, You do not do, You do not do, You do not do, You do not do or think, Or look pretty in pink, Then we can laugh, and we can smile all day, And stay outta their way. And I don't cry on a cloudy day, Because this is my way, this is my way, And I'm not saw when the sun don't shine, Cause this is my time, this is my time.

Out in the arctic of men I have only a pen and I try to keep track Of this gross mismanagement That goes on at the hands of my brothers, When worlds collide We just stand back and try to choose sides And whoever's blood flows coldest inside Will be the one who survives On the arctic of men. Just an old country boy in the arctic of men, I was quickly laid low by the power of the pen, As I watched all my idiot desperate friends, Climb high in the arctic of men. Oh such foolish boys, Running around, such foolish boys, Turning it on, plucking the wings, You don't understand a thing, All that you are is foolish boys. Sit down and play me a hand, You all know how I love a good game of chance, Even though we're all bluffing and laughing at nothing, Well the whole world is watching let's always be friends, I write my insane letters to the president And I ask her if she knows where all my money went, And I draw pretty patterns on the walls of my room, Because I can't afford rent with a view. When worlds collide We just stand back and try to choose sides And whoever's blood flows coldest inside Will be the one who survives. Oh such foolish boys, Running around, such foolish boys, Turning it on, plucking the wings, You don't understand a thing, All that you are is foolish boys, In the arctic of men.

War Machine 03:49
I'm on a roll, Gonna let shine, gonna drive my war machine, Gonna let it shine, let it shine, From every side of me, From the Bitterroot down to New Orleans, And everywhere in between, Gonna let it fly, gonna let it fly, Drive my war machine. When I was just a little child sitting on my momma's knee, She said let it shine, let it shine, That's what she said to me, Yes when I was just a little child sitting on my momma's knee, She said let it fly, you gotta let it fly, Drive your war machine. People come and people go, but no body dares to steer, So I'm going down to the road tonight, And I'm gonna make a deal, Yes people come and people go But nobody grabs the wheel, So I'm going down to the corner store, And I'm gonna make a deal, I'm on a roll. And when finally the bottom falls out, I'm gonna roll up my sleeves, And when finally this whole ship goes south, I'm gonna go make a deal. I'm on a roll, gonna let it shine, Gonna drive my war machine, Gonna let it fly, gonna let it fly, From every side of me, I've been beat down by this world so long, It's a wonder I can even see, And every time I look inside a mirror, All I find is a war machine. I'm on a roll.

You tried your best, To be what you wanted to be When you were young And saw through all the screens And night they were long And lights they shone on All the worlds that would come, Worlds that would come, And now you are here And it's like no one can see you And you open your mouth But no one can feel you All the lights will go out And you're given a choice Now you can make the noise, Make the noise. There are thousands of drums Beating inside the walls of ten thousand homes Beating inside the walls of millions of bones And all in all it's just that you are but one You are but one, So you open your mouth, But no one can feel you, All the lights will go out, And no one can see you When you're turning around And making a choice Now you can make the noise. And dance until the end (Rise the empty hands) They'll dance until the end (Rise the empty hands). There are two hearts that beat On a dividing earth One beats for wealth And one beats for worth And one for all that we've got And one for what we deserve And while one gives us strength The other gives us the nerve So open your mouth I know you're scared what you're doing But just open your mouth And keep yourself moving, And soon you'll find out, We'll turn it around, We are building a world that is learning a sound. So open your mouth. Let it on out. And dance until the end (Rise the empty hands) They'll dance until the end (Rise the empty hands).

Down the fells into a great white ocean I watch you as you go With your highs and highs, And your highs and lows. And all your cheap talk, is now mine to keep, And all the little love songs you wrote in your sleep. We started off so thick and so sweet As honest as thieves or lovers could be With knives in our teeth, Then something just broke And you started to close And went down the fells, We watch you as you go, With your highs and highs and your highs and lows, With your highs and highs and your highs and lows, With your highs and highs, And you never looked down, No, no, no, no, You never looked down, No, no, no, no, Just flew on over the edge and out of sight, And you never looked down, No, no, no, no, You never looked down, No, no, no, no, Just flew on over the edge and out of sight. And you became a sky filled with birds, One that we watch and wish we were, More ourselves, feeling well, In the arms we love and hopes we held, Not down the fells, Maybe it's just as well, Because now you know, We'll just watch you as you go, With your highs and highs and your highs and lows, With your highs and highs and your highs and lows, With your highs and highs. And you never looked down, No, no, no, no, You never looked down, No, no, no, no, Just flew on over the edge and out of sight, And you never looked down, No, no, no, no, You never looked down, No, no, no, no, Just flew on over the edge and out of sight.

There are flowers by the door, But no one's sure just who they're for, Must be everyone, everyone but me. It rained out through your eyes, And turned me strange before the night, Now you are everywhere in everything I see. There are flowers by the door, They remind me of before, The night you stayed the night, Maybe just to make a change, When I woke up you're still there, With the roses in your hair, Evidence I've ruined everything. Dammit Jane, you weren't supposed to find out this way, Dammit all, you weren't supposed to find out, But you found out. Take those flowers by the door, I don't want to see them anymore, I made a mess maybe next time that we meet, You can look me in the eyes, Tell me that I'm full of lies, But so are you, so are you my sweet. Dammit Jane, you weren't supposed to find out this way, Dammit all, you weren't supposed to find out, But you found out.

How long must we play dog in a manger, In this future dystopian fantasy, Where robots cook and make my bed, Feed the children soft boiled eggs. Outside my window is a sight to behold, It's miles of circuitry bound in gold, But my heart is low, and I'm feeling thin, So I take out my cord and plug it in. My girlfriend knows every piece of me, I got a hard drive for her to read, And a chip in my heart that will tell me when, To extend my arms and hug my friends. My eyes flicker open and I stretch my legs, And I stand up, I stand in an upright posture, My heart beats and with my head back looking at the sky, I open my eyes, and I open my eyes, My arms are like antlers, branching from me, Make me reach out, make me reach out, With every ounce of strength in this new body, I, well I, well I, sit.... I watch as my robot fixes my meal, She squeezes the juice and dumps the peel, And I will report all that I see, In my future dystopian fantasy.

It's been another shitty day but I still love you, It's been another awful year but you're still here, It seems like everywhere we go the sun shines, Up above you, And I still love you, The skies will clear. Another awful ending to the evening, Another cause to frown after a show, Another bad time with the old night, You take my arm and take it all one, And I let go. Another night apart, another key ring, Another day before I'm coming home, Another hour that I must live without you, And though I've found you, Must live without you, One hour more. It's been another shitty day but I still love you, It's been another awful year but you're still here, It seems like everywhere we go the sun shines, Up above you, And I still love you, The skies will clear.

You and your low batteries, Your failing eye sight, The camera is under the seat, We'll all come out alright. Packing up to leave, And the sun a burned firefly, We crawled out of the sea, Conquered the moon, Ignored the stop signs. Throw it all in the car, Let's all get out of here, We don't know who we are, But we can think after we peel out. We are opposites, but our arms create circuits, The unnamed apostates, Laying low until the asteroid hits. So give the girl some gas, We can hide under the overpass, If you'd only asked, If you'd only read my mind. When you called me up, you tore me up, You told me all your secrets, When you called me up, you tore me up, You told me all your secrets, When you called me up, you tore me up, You told me all your secrets, Let the taillights flash, Let the Young girl grow old at last, This moment too shall pass, Let the ice keep forming.
