about

Originally recorded in a noisy practice space in Gowanus BK during the broiling summer of 2013. The original incarnation of Timatim had recently broken up and I was still spinning. I met Garry at work who played the upright bass and coaxed him into doing some recordings with me. Christine and I had just moved for the third time in five years and were completely broke. Bedbugs had taken over our previous apartment. I was walking dogs 7 days a week but couldn't pay a sound engineer to mix the rough tracks. NY was feeling rough and I spent a lot of time reflecting on life back in Santa Fe, how and when I fucked up, and wondering what was going to happen next.

The EP was originally released as a train wreck of ambient sound putty. Now in 2020 I am re-releasing the title track of the Come What May EP, re-mixed and hopefully more palatable for your ear. It's one of my facorite songs, I hope you enjoy it.

lyrics

Despite how it seems
I feel a good many things
Are alright now and waiting to happen
I spent the whole night
Just getting it right
But I'll be as wrong as you care to mention.

Come kitty, come near me,
I want you to hear me
I want you to feel our connection
And don't go inside
I'll stay out here all night
I'll stay here until you listen.

Come March, come May
Come take me away
Back to the city I love
But I ran away, I ran away
In the arms of a woman who looks off the edge.

My favorite motel
You got to know it so well
When you'd leave me and spend the whole night
Fast eyed unblinking
And as the dusk dropped down
And the red rolled round
You were as blind as that high holy mountain
But I loved you anyway.

Come March, come May
Come take me away, back to the city I love
But I ran away, I ran away
In the arms of a woman who looked off the edge.
